Dear SASCA and SASS delegates.
Welcome to the 16th Biennial Southern African Spinal Cord Society Congress as a collaborative congress with South African Spine Society at the Century City Conference Centre and Hotel in Cape Town from May 22—24, 2025.
On the back of a very successful meeting in 2023, when we first trialled a joint congress with SASS, time just seems to have flown. We came together and not only had an excellent academic meeting but also had enriching collegial interactions, reuniting friends and colleagues. Your participation made it the success it was.
Now in 2025, we invite you again for an in-person only meeting in Cape Town. This collaborative congress with SASS will again allow for an even greater networking and collaborative learning opportunity between spinal surgeons and spinal cord rehabilitation professionals.
We will again hold a joint session and our invited guest speaker, Dr Brian Kwon from ICORD in Vancouver, Canada, is a gifted speaker and a world renowned scientist. His insights as both a spinal surgeon and a researcher, will not disappoint.
The congress committee has been hard at work creating an academic programme to hopefully enrich all of our practices in one way or the other. We are looking forward to the contributions from our international and local faculty and invite your opinion and participation during the sessions. Please consider contributing to the program by presenting your research/work/experience - send in your abstracts!
The gala evening will again take the shape of a street-market type event.
We trust that this meeting will be enjoyable with quality science and education and provide delegates with great opportunities to catch up with friends from across the country and the world. At the end of this congress, I hope you all will leave with the fondest memories of the fairest Cape.
See you soon.
