On March 29th, 2017 representatives from 14 countries gathered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the second conference of the Africa Spinal Cord Injury Network (AFSCIN).

The International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) decided to observe ‘Spinal Cord Injury Day’ on 5th September every year with the intention of increasing awareness amongst the general public.
Spinal cord injury (SCI) and the resultant paralysis has devastating physical, mental, social, sexual and vocational consequences for the injured.
And it isn’t always bad luck that causes spinal cord injuries.
